Did you know GCU staff gives about 1,000 volunteer hours in our community?

We got some great news this year. GCU was certified as a Community Development Financial Institution, which means we received federal recognition for our work to help our members save, build credit and avoid predatory lenders--especially those members that big banks often don't have time for.

We do this through things like free financial counseling, our microloan program, free volunteer tax help, special loan and savings options for members with limited means, and our approach to treating each member as a person with a unique history and goals, not just a credit score.

But it's not just about the work we do in the office. We also love getting out in the community and getting involved with different local organizations to improve the quality of life for Santa Feans.

We believe that when it comes to money, knowledge is power. So we are passionate about bringing practical financial education to teens and adults in Santa Fe. We have worked with local schools and non-profit organizations including:

• Santa Fe Public Schools
• ENLACE
• Simon Family Foundation
• Youth Shelters & Family Services
• SFPS Adelante Program
• Citizen Schools 

We have an extra-special place in our hearts for the SFPS Adelante program, which serves homeless students and their families. Our staff has not only taught financial literacy there, but also donated and served dinner for the families who attend.
